Morgan Chesla, owner and founder of Musōka Design Studio, is a formally trained designer and curator with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Interior Design from the Design Institute of San Diego. Throughout her life, she has experienced a diverse range of lifestyles—from raising livestock on a farm in small-town Ohio to relaxing on the beaches of California, to navigating the challenges of entrepreneurship in a bustling city. These experiences have shaped her understanding of how drastically different environments affect our well-being, particularly the profound impact of nature—or its absence.

Morgan is committed to moving beyond conventional production practices and inspiring others to recognize the inherent beauty of the natural world as a valuable resource. She looks past fleeting design trends to create interiors that stand the test of time. By emphasizing zero-waste principles and aiming for zero-energy consumption, Morgan’s designs contribute to a healthier, more sustainable future while enhancing the immediate well-being of their users.

Her work prioritizes effortless functionality for its inhabitants, seamlessly blending with the surrounding natural environment. Morgan places great value on antiques, heirlooms, and handcrafted pieces, celebrating imperfections and patinas rather than concealing them. She believes nature is the ultimate designer and that by harmonizing with it, we can craft spaces that are not only aesthetically appealing but also inherently adaptive and enduring.

Morgan founded Musōka Design Studio to share a vision and promote a lifestyle that transcends personal ambition. The ethos behind Musōka is rooted in humility, kindness, and meticulous attention to detail. It considers everything and everyone—past, present, and future—recognizing that the choices we make, the knowledge we share, and the time we dedicate are crucial. Musōka Design Studio is driven by the belief that we must collectively push boundaries in selfless ways to ensure that all beings—human and non-human—can live happily and freely.

At Musōka Design Studio, we are here to demonstrate how our built environments can foster this vision and make it a reality.
